In Mexico, trademarks are protected by the Instituto Mexicano de la Propiedad Industrial (IMPI) under the regulations of Ley Federal de Protección a la Propiedad Industrial.
The trademark registration is to obtain the registered trademark title for a sign, symbol, words, shapes, colors or sounds with which a service or product is identified to be differentiated from others of its kind in the market. This title is granted by the Instituto Mexicano de la Propiedad Industrial. With this registration, the owner has the right to exclusive use of the registered trademark.
It is essential to register a trademark to protect its rights. This registry gives you the right to exclusive use in the national territory for 10 years.
